Test Automation for a Connected Traffic Controller Device

Executive Summary

The client is a leading provider of transportation and logistics solutions, based out of the USA. It had developed a traffic controller product, which was connected to a central traffic management software and an on-street controller software. There were three product variants and two types of software variants, with different protocols and developed on heterogeneous technology platforms. The client was facing an increased time to market, resulting from manual testing and the lack of a test management process.

The eInfochips team evaluated automation feasibility with five automation tools. Following this, the team created end-to-end product-to-application hybrid automation framework with Unified Functional Testing (UFT). The team also implemented DevOps to reduce test cycle time. The automation framework works with multiple technologies and is scalable to different product variants. Through this solution, we were able to automate 90% of test cases, resulting in 85% effort savings.
