Handheld Imaging Laser Scanner

Executive Summary

Our client, a Swiss-based company known for premium products and innovative solution development for a diverse mix of industries, such as aerospace and defense, safety and security, construction, and manufacturing. With a strong focus on precise and accurate instruments, sophisticated software, the client has developed multiple products based on LiDAR and imaging technology. Based on the same technology, they wanted to develop a lightweight handheld imaging laser scanner that recreates spaces in 3D. It was based on SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology which is a combination of high-speed dual-axis LiDAR, multicamera vision system, and an inertial measurement unit.

eInfochips leveraging its strong experience on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms and SDKs, proposed a Snapdragon 820 based solution. eInfochips took the complete ownership of hardware design as well as firmware development of the product.

Project Highlights

  • Complex Design: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820; Microsemi FPGA
  • Real-time 3D space creation
  • Light-weight, Multi-camera
  • Industry recognition
  • 4K HDR capable
