DFT for 6-Axis Digital Motion Control MEMS

Executive Summary

The client is a leading MEMS supplier, catering to global Top-3 smartphone players, in addition to gaming, tablets, cameras, televisions and remote control applications. They were to migrate the design from 180nm to 90nm, and were required to execute DFT (Design For Testability) for the first time.

The solution was to engage a partner that has proven and comprehensive capabilities in DFT. The client was looking for a turnkey program from architecture phase to DFT sign-off, with a single point responsibility. Being the consumer electronics industry, time-to-market was critical to keep the product relevant, given the limited shelf life.

This is the first device in the world that has integrated a gyroscope and an accelerometer. The client was able to deliver the DFT sign-off to TSMC in time. The product caters to devices from 3 of the global Top-5 smartphone companies.
