Executive Summary
Hospitals and clinics need medical equipment without a failure in their battery power. The most used technique of substituting batteries has been to switch off devices or even call IT services in a disorganized manner for help, which is downright unsafe. This paper suggests the production of power supply in the form of battery packs (externally powered), which can easily be replaced, do not require any tools, and also the process of replacing the battery packs does not impair the functionality of the device.
The design under consideration in the current paper is the design of a medical tablet power pack that can be attached. It is mechanically efficient, lightweight, shock and vibration resistant and closed-up in addition to being easy to clean and disinfect which medical equipment demands. It is comprised of an aluminum housing case which contains the internal components after which it adheres to the compression components, a moving bracket, and a spring-loaded hook. This installation is such that the battery does not fall off accidentally and make contact during installation and deinstallation. It is also designed in such a way that it can be constructed, repaired as well as assembled easily without ruining the structure or the seal.
Prototyping and testing are performed to determine normalcy of the mechanical design . The results suggest that with the application of guided mechanical components along with a spring component, it is possible to make the battery extremely easy to handle. In a nutshell, this paper has a handful of design and engineering recommendations on how to produce safe and reliable battery systems in medical gadgets that can be replaced easily. This concerns the mobile electronic gadgets that need a full-time functionality.
