eInfochips Introduces Video Daughter Board To
Enhance The Ability of TI's TMS320C6000T DSP EVM/DSK
Video Daughter Board (vDB) available now can be combined with eInfochips'
EVM6205 evaluation board for rapid prototyping and accelerated product
developments
Santa Clara, CA - April 7, 2003 - eInfochips Inc., a member of
the Texas Instruments (TI) third party network and a provider of
complete embedded systems solutions, today announced the release
of a high performance Video Daughter Board (vDB) that can be combined
with the previously announced EVM6205 evaluation board and PCI drivers,
enabling designers to rapidly prototype and develop products for
advanced video and imaging applications.
The vDB uses a modular approach and provides functions to meet
the requirements of standard video interfaces compliant to TMS320T
cross-platform daughter board specifications V1.0. This interface
allows the standard TMS320C6000T platform DSP EVM boards to be used
in a wide range of low-cost applications, thereby enhancing the
ability of the EVM/DSP Starter Kits (DSK).
"Using this full-size Video Daughter Board with eInfochips' TMS320C6205
DSP-based EVM6205 board or any other TI C6000T EVM/DSK simplifies
the hardware and software development and ensures that future design
efforts are only needed for new interface requirements and not for
the entire DSP processing system," said Upendra Patel, Manager-Embedded
Systems Division, eInfochips Inc. "The standard interfaces provided
with the board reduce system designers' efforts to interface with
the EVM/DSK, thus allowing them to concentrate on system-specific
issues rather than the core DSP and memory design."
The vDB also provides 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connectivity. With its
modular approach, the core DSP and memory design of the EVM/DSK
can be leveraged across several multi-channel, multi-functional
and advanced applications such as:
- Video surveillance system
- Security cameras
- Video monitoring system (process industry)
- Personal video recorder (set-top box)
- Digital video recorder (security systems)
- Videophones and video conferencing application
- Networked video application
- Video base station
- Imaging application
- 3-D graphics application
"eInfochips' continued effort to provide solutions encompassing
system-level software and hardware significantly benefits DSP developers.
With the Video Daughter Board and the EVM6205 board combination,
our customers now have an affordable way to evaluate and begin development
with the C6000T DSP," said Yvonne Cager, DSP video solutions manager,
TI. "These boards will help OEMs get their designs to market quickly
by providing a PCI-based software development platform they can
use prior to their target system being ready."
The previously launched EVM6205 board complies with PCI Specification
2.2 compliant, full-size PCI board, designed for use in a PCI expansion
slot and features PCI interface, SDRAM, Flash memory, audio codec
and embedded JTAG emulation support. On-board connectors provide
a DSP external memory interface (EMIF) and peripheral signals that
enable it to be expanded with custom or third party daughter-boards.
The design also addresses power, clock, JTAG and PCI interfaces.
As a member of Ti's third party network, eInfochips has substantial
expertise on Ti's TMS320C62xT and TMS320C64xT DSPs and significant
experience in developing board level systems, firmware and software
solutions using TI DSPs.
