eInfochips Introduces Soft Cores for Gigabit Ethernet MAC And PCI2.2

eInfochips Broadens its Intellectual Property Offerings with Launch of Gigabit Ethernet MAC And PCI2.2 Target Soft Cores

MILPITAS, CA - February 24, 2003 - eInfochips, a leading firm developing intellectual property cores, verification components and providing design & verification consulting services, today announced the availability of two new soft cores: Gigabit Ethernet MAC and PCI2.2 Target. These are fully synthesizable, easy-to-use, high-performance soft cores in the form of Verilog HDL code for designers of networking ICs and system devices. The cores are implemented in FPGA and proven for performance and inter-operability as they are tested using eInfochips designed PCI compliant NIC against third-party NIC.

eInfochips' GBMAC core is an Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) core supporting 1Gbps, 100 Mbps and 10 Mbps data rates and can be easily configured and monitored through a processor independent interface, giving users the flexibility to pick the ideal processor for any specific application. It supports Ethernet transfer for networking devices such as Network Interface Cards (NIC), Ethernet Switches, Routers, Printers and Cable Modems.

Company's PCI Target core is a PCI specification 2.2 compliant core providing a simple interface between an application and the PCI bus. The core can be used for many embedded applications including networking; industrial, communications, computers/servers, graphics/multi-media and any application that needs a PCI interface.

"By seamlessly integrating our long-time expertise in designing cores and verifying complex SoC designs we have yet again come up with reliable soft cores for GBMAC and PCI2.2 Target. Like most our other cores these newly introduced cores will also be certified under Xilinx's AllianceCore™ program," said Pratul Shroff, President & CEO of eInfochips. "Leveraging these soft cores networking product companies can meet time-to-market demands, ensure product interoperability and can roll out new high reliability bandwidth-intense networking products."

About Gigabit Ethernet MAC core

The GBMAC core consists of IEEE 802.3-2000 specification compliant MAC module, management interface and flow control. The GBMAC core operates in both half-duplex and full-duplex modes at 1Gbps.

Features:

  • Supports 32-bit / 64-bit upper layer interface (PCI Interface)
  • Supports both full duplex and half duplex modes
  • Supports pause frame generation/reception, VLAN TAG frame transmission/ reception and jumbo frame transmission/reception
  • Supports broadcast and reception of up to 32 multicast addresses
  • Configurable flow control through MAC control pause frames
  • Configurable FCS field passing on both transmit and receive paths
  • Supports carrier extension and frame bursting, CRC generation & checking and detachable MAC Attributes (counters) About PCI 2.2 Target core

About PCI 2.2 Target core

This is PCI 2.2 specification compliant silicon proven PCI Target core successfully performing at 33/66 MHz.

Features:

  • 32 bit or 64 bit data path
  • Supports zero wait state burst mode and single interrupt
  • Type 0 configuration space
  • Supports Application initiated Disconnect, Retry and Abort
  • Supports 6 base address registers, parity generation & checking and Dual Address cycle
  • Fully tested on Spartan II and Virtex II based boards

eInfochips is a proud member of Xilinx AllianceCore™ Program and also a premier Verification Alliance Partner of Verisity Ltd., the leading provider of functional verification automation tools. Apart from developing cores and delivering high-quality services based on superior verification methodologies, the company is dedicated to design, develop and license reusable Verification Components - eVCs; the e HVL and Specman Elite™ (test-bench automation tool) based verification components that are pre-verified, greatly configurable and extensible, which yield higher quality results at the verification task.

Both these cores are thoroughly verified for functionality using the in-house developed 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet eVC and the PCI/PCI-X eVC, which are deployed in the field and have witnessed many successful chip tape-outs.

PCI/PCI-X eVC

Includes models of PCI-X master and target devices, a PCI-X arbiter to control bus access and a protocol and timing monitor to check for and report protocol violation. Also includes a comprehensive test suite covering all protocol scenarios outlined in the PCI-X and PCI 2.2 specification compliance checklists from the PCI SIG.

1/10 Gigabit Ethernet eVC

Verifies any IEEE802.3: 2000 and IEEE Draft P802.3ae/D4.0 compliant MAC or PHY device, supports eRM features and provides extensive sequence library for verifying interfaces viz. 10Mbps, MII, GMII, RMII, SGMII, TBI, XGMII, XAUI, XSBI.

Availability

The GBMAC and PCI2.2 Target cores are available as encrypted netlists and the source codes for these cores are also available at an extra cost.

About eInfochips

eInfochips delivers high-quality cores and services that enable customers to compete effectively in their target markets to widen their client base by dramatically reducing the time-to-market. It has a large team of engineers dedicated to ASIC and IP design and reusable Verification IP development, having grown with years of experience at designing and verifying complex ASICs, IP/Cores, system-on-chip and custom ICs. The engineering teams in India as well as in USA have tremendous exposure to EDA tools and Verilog & VHDL based methodologies covering the entire design and verification spectrum.

eInfochips' expertise with Verilog & VHDL helps them devise high-level language based verification models and methodologies. In addition, they commonly work on chip designs all the way through to tape-out and the comprehensive knowledge on this area helps us tightly integrate RTL/Gate level phase with place and route phase keeping in mind issues such as budgeting for timing at RTL level, keeping synthesized logic "place & route friendly."

eInfochips partners with cutting edge technology companies to meet the ever-emerging customer needs for design and verification services. For more information on eInfochips visit http://www.einfochips.com or send email to sales@einfochips.com
