DPRAM Based Finite Impulse Response Filter

The FIR filter can be used for echo cancellation in telecommunications & data communications, signal processing, for different types of filter applications like lowpass, bandpass, highpass filters with different types of windows as well as for rcosine and root rcosine filters and for signal processing in bio-medical equipment like ECGs.

The FIR filter core is configured such that user can change the coefficients at run time. It uses only a single signed multiplier unit, has 80 I/O pins and gives optimal results for higher number of taps.

Features

  • High-performance finite impulse response (FIR)
  • Up to 1024 taps
  • Signed Multiplier can give output in single cycle with variation in frequency
  • Up to 16 bits signed input data precision
  • Up to 16 bits signed coefficients data precision
  • Up to 32-bit output data precision
  • User can change the coefficients at runtime
  • Can be used as Adaptive FIR filter
  • MAC feature is achieved by using single signed multiplier and concept of pipeline addition with three data clock cycle latency
  • Internal feature of Xilinx's DPRAM is used to store sampled data and coefficients
