Video Quality Inspector

Video Quality Inspector is an Automated Video Quality Testing Tool. VQI (Video Quality Inspector) is a complete solution for automated video quality measurement and glitch detection using full reference model. It has two components – VQMg and VQGD.

VQMg - Video Quality Metrics (General model) - is a Software tool (based on ITU J.144 algorithm) for automated perceptual video quality measurement. VQI tests the video output from the device under test with reference video clips using a complex video quality assessment algorithm. The test system compares the received video clip from the output of the device under test to the reference clip and provides a VQMg rating score on a scale of 0 to 1. Additionally, the test system provides several video degradation metrics, including:

  • Spatial Gradients like Blocking, Edge Distortion, Jerkiness and Blurring
  • Chrominance Information
  • Contrast Information
  • Absolute Temporal Information

 

VQGD - Video Quality Glitch Detection - is a software tool for automated detection and location of video glitches in real time. VQGD compares the output video to the input and detects and locates video glitches in real time. Video quality Inspector also calculates PSNR and SSIM on a per-frame basis. These metrics are able to capture certain impairments which are visible only in single frames scattered across the clip. VQGD is able to pin-point video impairments like

  • Black/Green Frames
  • Black Line, Black Column, Black Macro-block
  • Frozen Frames
  • Corrupt Line, Column, Macro-block
