Development of Navigation System

Executive Summary

Our customer is a market leader in providing various navigation systems and tools.   
Our customer wanted to develop a high-end Navigation System for the customer with multimedia features and they were looking for company in India to execute this. They were looking at enhanced operating ability with features like 3D Graphics Engine, CRT, TV and audio outputs with TFT LCD screen with resolutions: 1280*1024, 1024*768 and TV Input, supporting both Analog and Digital video inputs. They also wanted 10/100 Ethernet Connectivity and Two USB 2.0 interfaces for communication.
The customer did not have expertise on multimedia applications, and hence engaged eInfochips for our strong expertise in developing video based systems.  eInfochips developed the complete navigation system for the customer.  The system helps in Radar and GSM connectivity with SD Interfaces (Hot Swap). It also supports Exhaustive Search of locations, Saving Roadmaps, Destination, Addresses with Multi-language support.  With our amplified offshore engagement model, we enabled our customer to save over 50% cost of development of the product.

The Challenge

• As   the date of release was announced by the customer we had to develop the navigation system in a short period of time.
• Enabling  the system to  support 10/100 Ethernet Connectivity and Two USB 2.0 interfaces with all navigation function which team eInfochips incorporated.
•  Enhancing the system functionality with LCD screen with resolutions: 1280*1024, 1024*768 and TV Input.

The Solution

Design & Development

eInfochips developed the product in phases with flexible design methodology allowing system up gradation. As the time to market was a critical issue eInfochips worked for the customer in phases to complete the development of product. This has helped in addressing the market needs in every aspect.

eInfochips has designed the ARM based platform which is a low cost hardware meeting the systems performance requirements. We have incorporated   audio/ video, GPS, SONAR and other standard interfaces into the system to make it more advanced.

For fast and accurate response we have designed the system in such a way that it supports 10/100 Ethernet Connectivity and Two USB 2.0 interfaces.  eInfochips has also developed the GUI Screens which gives a superior look to the navigation system.

Software

Being an expert in embedded software development eInfochips has developed the embedded software which involves Embedded Linux configuration & porting, boot loader development and developing drivers for all the interfaces.
