Mobicam3 HD IP Camera Reference Design
Overview
Mobicam3 is Maxim’s latest High Definition (HD) IP camera reference design based on MG2580 H.264 video codec system-on-chip (SoC) solution. Designed by eInfochips, the reference design provides a complete platform for development.
The small-form-factor and customizable design offers High Definition (HD) H.264 and MJPEG capture, multi-stream output, embedded HD analytics, image stabilization, low latency and low power at a very competitive price point.
A single camera based on this reference design can potentially replace several analog cameras, while offering greater video quality, eliminating the need for mechanical PTZ systems, and enabling intelligent monitoring to assist human operators.
Mobicam3 is equipped with 512 MB NAND flash and 128 MB DDR2. It uses MG2580 in its System-on-Chip (SoC) mode, i.e. running embedded ARM as the system controller. The operating system running on the ARM is Linux 2.6.20.
About MG2580
MG2580 SoC is the cost-reduced version of the High-Profile H.264 Codecs that performs 720p30 H.264 and MJPEG encoding operations. The MG2580 is particularly adapted for both IP camera and H.264 webcam designs
It offers a fully compliant baseline, main, and high-profile HD H.264 codec, MJPEG codec, HD MPEG2 decoder, video preprocessors and postprocessors, 240MHz ARM9™ CPU, and a host of peripherals including Gigabit Ethernet MAC, USB 2.0 OTG, SD™ card, compact Flash, IDE, CE-ATA, SDIO, and MMC
