eInfochips has introduced region growing segmentation algorithm by leveraging its medical/imaging & machine vision expertise , which can be tuned for extraction of tumor, fractures, abnormalities and blockages in a given image.
We have implemented the region growing algorithm on PC platform and enabled it to get ported easily on to TI DSP platforms like DM642, DVEVM which increases the usability in various use cases. Various medical imaging modalities such as X-ray, computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely available and used in routine clinical practice. It has been generally accepted that visual interpretation of such images is highly subjective. As a result, there is a great need of image processing techniques that must be applied on medical images, to assist the pathologists and radiologists for easier and better diseases diagnosis.
Region growing algorithm has successfully been used as segmentation technique of medical images. "The region growing algorithm", developed by eInfochips, provides size & grey level for certain region of interest on a digital image. Output of this algorithm is very impressive. In medical field, region growing algorithm has successfully been used as segmentation technique of medical images. An accurate segmentation is critical for clinical application of medical images.
